On August 14, 2006, President Lucio C. Tan, in a group of seven, arrived in Dalian. On August 15, they visited Xia Deren, Mayor of Dalian in the Dalian Hotel. They had a deep discussion on the acceleration of the Eton Dalian Center project amongst others items of importance. Mayor Xia extended his appreciation for Dr. Lucio C. Tan's support on the Dalian Economy. He commended the Eton Center project's great capital investment which makes it so attractive. At present, Dalian is boosting development of modern service industry,,and hoped the group would seize the opportunity to fuel initiation of the project. During the meeting, Mayor Xia had also observed the conceptual design of Eton Center project, and put forth detailed alterations to it. He required that during designing and construction, the project should be planned carefully and scientificly to match with a general urban development plan to become a high-ranking multi-functional area integrating meeting, hotel, and business in Dalian.
