Published:2010-12-24

The Philippine Christmas parol lighting-up ceremony sponsored by Eton Properties Group and other companies and organized by the Philippine Embassy in China was held in Beijing South Cathedral (at Xuanwumen), St Joseph's Church (at Dongdan) and the Philippine Embassy at 8 am and 4 pm December 12, 2010 and on December 19. Mr. Ren Baolin as a special representative of Mr. Cheung Chi Ming was present at related activities.

It is the first time for the Philippine Embassy in China to hold such activities in Beijing and also one of the series activities for celebrating the 35th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between China and the Philippines. Parol is the most popular decoration for Christmas celebration in the Philippines. It implies light will lead people to God. In this activity, bright and lovely star-shaped parols were decorated on the scenes, adding brilliance and passion to the Philippine Christmas with the presence of numerous Chinese and Philippine friends.

Ms. Maria Teresa T. Almojuela, the Minister and Consul General of the Philippines expressed at the lighting ceremony that Christmas parols are Christmas gifts the Philippine Embassy in China and the Filipino groups in Beijing present to Chinese friends, and all these star-shaped parols were from parol city San Fernando, Pampanga, the Philippines and manually made by Filipino artists. She said Christmas is a traditional festival of Philippine people and the activity aims to let more Chinese people feel the festive atmosphere of the Philippines, thus knowing the traditional culture of Philippine people during Christmas.

Eton Properties Group was a special sponsor of this activity. To commend Eton on its continuous contribution to Sino-Filipino friendship, Mr. Francisco L. Benedicto, Ambassador of Philippine Embassy in China issued an honorable medal to Eton.

On the advent of Christmas, we wish these beautiful parols bring endless joy and good luck to more Chinese and Philippine people.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!
